Sheila Lynn Woodard passed Thursday, July 28, 2011 for her eternal home. She was born February 18, 1954 to Mr. Leonard Woodard and Mrs. Alberta Woodard. Sheila was the second child of four. She was a 1972 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School and a 1974 graduate of Chenier Business School. She also attended Lamar University. She was employed at Jefferson Chemical, Monroe Answering Service, Rock Island Baptist Church, and Rose House Assisted Living Facility until her illness. She was a member of the NAACP and a faithful member of First Sixth Street Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Nancy Thomas Circle, Senior Choir, Reginald Taylor Gospel Chorus and Voices of Praise, where she sang tenor. She was a former member of the Southeast Texas Interdenominational Mass Choir.

Sheila leaves to remember fondly, her sisters and brother, Phyllis Woodard- Charles (Godfrey), Lynda Woodard-Hall (Johnny) and Leonard A. Woodard III (Donna); adopted brother, Earnest Hamilton, Jr. (Yvette); a devoted cousin, Earnest Lee Hamilton, Sr. (Sandra), nieces & nephews, Kayla Hall (Estive), Marc Hall (Ashley), Kiandra Hall, Parren K. Woodard; great nieces & nephews, Morgan, Maya, Ashton, Marc Devante and Layla; close friends, Gail Pellum and daughter, ReGail & children, Jennifer & Lorraine Jones, Margaret Edwards, Tequila Francis and Shannon Duhon.

She loved fishing and cooking. She was active in her church as long as her health permitted and was willing to testify God's goodness anywhere and anytime.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at First Sixth Street Baptist Church with funeral services immediately following at 11 a.m. with Pastor Donald Toussaint officiating. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
