Charlotte Minnie Brunko passed away on March 25, 2012 at the age of 93, at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, MN. She was born on June 3, 1918 in Oak Valley Township, Ottertail County to Carl and Kate (Eckman) Borchers. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek where she was a lifelong member.

Char was united in marriage to Oscar Brunko on February 12, 1942 in her parent's living room in Oak Valley Township. She worked at the U.S. Post Office and First National Bank in Deer Creek, and finally at Smith Furniture in Wadena for 27 years. Char enjoyed Study Club, reading, cooking, and took great pride in her housekeeping. Most of all, she loved spending time with family.

She is survived by one son Gary (Debra) of Morris; grandchildren Thomas Brunko of Morris, Jason (Carmen) Sivers, and Justin (Julene) Sivers both of Fargo, ND; three great-grandchildren; sister Catherine Babcock of Fergus Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar; parents Carl and Kate; sisters Marie Menze and Ada Lohman; and brother Clark Borchers.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on March 29, 2012 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek with Pastor Paul Yearyean presiding. Pallbearers were Scott Jahnke, Dan Hendershot, Dale Becker, Don Becker, Randy Sims, and Lowell Scearcy. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in rural Deer Creek.
