Donna M. Olson, 66, Kenmare, died Sunday, September 18, 1994, in a Minot hospital after a courageous battle with lung disease and cancer.

She was born August 15, 1928 at Kenmare, a daughter of Alfred and Mabel (Lundt) Davick. Reared at Coulee, she graduated from Donnybrook High School in 1945 and then attended business school in Grand Forks.

Donna married Carl "Red" W. Olson on May 25, 1946 at Glasgow, Montana. They lived and farmed in Lowland Township, Mountrail County, near Coulee until 1962. They then moved to Kenmare where they owned and operated the Kenmare Bakery until its closure in 1968. They owned and managed Olson Apartments downtown Kenmare from 1969 to 1983. During this time, Donna was also employed as an accountant for GoFor Oil from 1968 to 1984. Carl passed away February 1, 1980.

Donna was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church and the Lydia Circle group. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Kenmare Hospital Auxiliary. An avid card player, she enjoyed playing cards and belonged to numerous card playing groups.

She is survived by her sons, Rickey and wife Billie of Omaha, Nebraska; Donn and his wife Deanna of Mishawaka, Indiana; and Lee and his wife Konnie of Arvada, Colorado; daughter, Paula and her husband Peter Knutson of Ethelbert, Manitoba, Canada; two grandchildren, Shannan and Shane Knutson; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, September 21 at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare from 9 a.m. to noon.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 21, 1994 at 2 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.

Officiating for the service will be Pastor David Smidt, Nazareth Lutheran Church. Mary Smidt, soloist will offer "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry," and "The Lord's Prayer." Congregational hymns will be "Just As I Am" and "How Great Thou Art." Joan Larson is organist.

Active casketbearers will include Steve Bauer, Kevin King, Terry Froseth, Larry Nore, David King, and Dale Jarvie.

Honorary casketbearers will include her coffee groups, card playing groups, and her many friends and neighbors over the years.

Following the service, lunch will be served in the fellowship hall.

Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare.

The family prefers memorial be designated for Kenmare Life Line or Kenmare Hospital front door and security system.

Thompson Larson Funeral Home of Kenmare is in charge of arrangements.
