Shirley Jean Loper, 81 of Hartsville passed away Wednesday May 9, 2012 at her home.

She was a member of the Hartsville Baptist Church. She loved reading, sewing, gardening, cooking, outside activities and attending church.

The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 pm at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Tim Tallent officiating. The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be donated to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born September 30, 1930, Mrs. Loper was the daughter of Charles and Ethel Roberts Beckett. She married Kenneth R. Loper on July 17, 1948. He preceded her in death the same day one year ago, May 9, 2011.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Ann (Dean) Ford of Hartsville; grandchildren Jamie (Janean) Johnson of Cleveland, Texas and Danielle Ford (Tyler Kolusch) of St Paul; great-grandchildren Jacob, Jadon and Jordan Johnson of Cleveland,Texas; siblings Arnold (Janet) Beckett of Hartsville, Doug (Marie) Beckett and Roger (Mary Ann ) Beckett, both of Greensburg, Olas (Sandra) Beckett of Georgetown, Neosha (Joe) Love of Hartsville and Iris Czap of Taylorsville; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews and a trusty canine companion, Gizmo.

Mrs. Loper was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; a son Brian; a brother Art Beckett and her parents.
