Funeral services for Edna H. Simien, age 83, will be held, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lebeau, LA. Rev Walter Cerbin SSJ will celebrate the Mass.

Edna was born in Point Coupee Parish and was a long-time resident of Palmetto. She died on Monday, July 11, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.

A strong and elegant woman, Edna was not only a skillful seamstress, but a smart and industrious woman as well. While her husband, Wilfred was away on business, Edna managed the family farm for many years. She was the back bone of the family. Edna was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and the Legion of Mary.

Survivors include children; Wilfred Simien, Jr., of Dallas TX., Carbino Simien Sr., Shawnee, Tommy Simien of Palmetto,Blanche Simien Pasnick and husband, John of Long Beach, California, Shirley Ann Simien Curl and husband, Rick of Loch Lloyd, MO. Linda Faye Simien Kelly and husband, Herbert of Houston TX., Brenda Gail Simien Stelly and husband, James of Baton Rouge, and Sandra Louise Simien Turner and husband, Patrick of Monroe, brother, Joseph Howard of Lee's Summit, sister, Pearl "Noon" Gosserand of Kansas City, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Edward and Mary Decuir Howard, husband, Wilfred Simien Sr., two sons; John Michael Simien and Leonce Simien and sisters; Doretha, Viola, Ophelia, brothers; James, Edward, Flonard, Walter and granddaughter, Ashley Re' Curl.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
