John A. Amspacher, 73, died Tuesday May 9, 2012, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Charlene L. (Angel) Amspacher, with who he celebrated a 54th wedding anniversary this past September 14.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church, 5890 Steltz Road, Glen Rock, with his pastor the Rev. John C. Dorr, officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Shaffer's Church Cemetery, Seven Valleys.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main St., Glen Rock, is in charge of the arrangements.

John was born on October 14, 1938, in Hanover, a son of Ella L. (Lemmon) Amspacher of Shrewsbury and the late Edwin N. Amspacher.

He retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in York, in 1998 after over 29 years of employment as a machinist and in parts distribution. Following his retirement he was employed part time as a photographer with "Cars by Dealers" for five years. He was a member of Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church; the UAW Local #786 and was a life member of the Pagoda Motorcycle Club, Birdsboro and the American Motorcycle Association.

Besides his wife and mother, he also leaves two daughters, Kim V. Walker and her husband, Dale of Glen Rock and Debra A. Taibbi of Sugar Grove; three grandchildren, Matthew Walker and his wife, Vanessa and April Krodel and her husband, Ryan, all of Glen Rock, and Chad Walker of San Diego, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Walker, Emma Walker and Christian Krodel; three sisters, Peggy J. Shaffer and Linda L. Wolfe, both of York and Dolores A. Thoman of Hanover; four brothers, Edwin W. Amspacher and Thomas L. Amspacher, both of York; James M. Amspacher of Codorus, and Donald C. Amspacher of Landisville. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert F. Amspacher, Richard C. "Dick" Amspacher; and a son-in-law, Robin Taibbi.
