Adell Buckley Pfaff was born in Allegany county on August 25th, 1855. She was one of a large family of children born to Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Buckley. Her early life was spent near Birdsall and Angelica but at 16 years of age came to Pike to live. Here she attended school and later worked in the woolen mills.
On December 21st 1876, she married Frederick Pfaff of East Koy and has resided there in the same house all but two years. One son was born to them. Mr. Pfaff passed away on February 16, 1918.
She leaves to mourn her passing, the son and wife, who have been with them over 20 years; and two sisters, Mrs. Elizbeth Ogden of Angelica, and Mrs. Josephine Robbins of Hornell.
During her last illness of ten weeks besides the family, her relative, friends and neighbors have helped to cheer her by, fruit, flowers, visits and letters. She was always a loving mother and sister, and a willing helper to neighbors when in trouble, so her loss will be felt by many.
Funeral was held on August 14th from her home at East Koy, burial in the rural cemetery there. Her flower laden casket spoke of the love of relatives and friends.
Relatives were present from Niagara Falls, Syracuse, Hornell, Wellsville, Castile and Pike.
