O V DAILEY DIES AT WARNER HOME
Aged Man Was Long in Poor Health

Oliver V Dailey passed away early this morning at the home of his neice, Mrs E E Warner. He had lived in St John with his niece for the past six years, his former home being in Stafford. He has not been in good health since living in St John but has not been seriously ill until last Sunday afternoon, when he had a sinking spell. He was bed-fast from Sunday until the time of his death.

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Church of Christ in Stafford. Rev Delbert Clothier of Sylvia will officiate at the funeral and Berkebile and Tanner funeral directors will have charge.

Oliver V Dailey was born in Monroe county, Ohio, ten miles from Woodsfield, to Vincent and Margret Dailey. They lived there until he was sixteen years of age. The moved to Appenuse [sic] county, Iowa, where his mother died. Oliver left there in 1872 and traveled to Jackson county, Arkansas. In '77 he moved to Kansas, in Butler county where he lived with his brother William and family until he came to Stafford county several years later. In Stafford he lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr and Mrs C B Cline. After making his home with them for a while, he moved to Oklahoma on the opening of the strip and settled on a claim. He lived in Oklahoma until he was called back to Stafford to care for his sister, Mrs Cline, who had met with an accident and who had lost her husband a short time before. After her death, Mr Dailey took care of the home and had a six acre truck farm from which he sold vegetables to the surrounding vicinity.

Six years ago, because of failing health, he came to St John to make his home with his neice, Mrs E E Warner and family. He died at the age of 90 years, five months and 27 days.

Those surviving him are his two grand-neices and grand-nephew, Mrs Warner, Mrs Will Richardson who lives northeast of Stafford and William James of Dodge City.
