Mrs. James C. Hillestad Sr., passed away very suddenly Thursday morning from heart attack. Mrs. Hillestad had suffered from a heart condition, but had been about her usual duties the day previous.

Marie A. Raaum was born Sept. 3, 1880, at Hafslo, Norway, and came to this country with her parents at an early age.

She was married Jan. 28, 1900, to James C. Hillestad at Sisseton, S. Dak. They resided there until 1906, when they moved to Divide county, near the town of Ambrose. They farmed there until 1912, and at that time came to the Kenmare area and settled east of town. They moved into town to reside 21 years ago.

Survivors are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. F. B. Dunham (Nellie) of Jacumba, Calif.; Mrs. Orville DeVore (Lillie) Kenmare; two Sons, Clarence and James C. Hillestad, Jr., of Kenmare; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; five brothers and three sisters. She was predeceased by two sons in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Nelson, Nov. 10, 1947, at Fresno, Calif.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from Nazareth Lutheran church, with the Rev. Cleo D. Hanson officiating. Mrs. Walter Dahlund was organist and Mrs. J. V. McBride, vocalist.

Honorary pallbearers were Messrs. H. G. Schiefer, Wm. Mahnke, Robert Mahnke, Christ Petersen, Ben James, Lewis Hoffman, Richard Erickson, Syprian Rud. Active bearers were Win. Cyrus, Harold Staael, Duane Staael, Orville Gardner, Leonard Raaum and Oscar Selle.

Burial was in Lakeview cemetery with the Ringen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
