Death Comes Suddenly to Charles Shepherd

Madison was shocked by the news of the sudden death of Charles B. Shepherd of Hartwell, Ga. on March 16

Shepherd, the son of R.W. Shepherd and the late Mabel Clemons Shepherd, was born on March 22, 1914, being only 33 years of age at the time of his death. He suffered a sudden heart attack.

Shepherd was employed in Madison by the Georgia Power Co., and was later transferred to Hartwell, where he made many friends and was active in the civil life of the town. He was a member of the Hartwell Methodist Church, and was active in Boy Scout work and other community interests.

Charles Shepherd is survived by his father, R.W. Shepherd, and his wife, and one brother, R.W. Shepherd, of Memphis, Tenn. and a sister, Mrs. N.J. Biddy of Atlanta.

Funeral services were held at W. C. Hemperley's Chapel, with Rev. D.P. Johnston officiating, and Hemperley in charge of arrangements. J.E. Caldwell sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."

Pallbearers were Paul Duke of Hartwell; Jeff Armstrong, Eugene Traber, Jim Cavin, Evan Walker, Bryan Walker, Ed Seymour, Hartwell; J.C. Irby, Royston, and J.E. Caldwell.

Interment was in Madison Cemetery.
