Peter Akers was born January 31, 1756 in Virginia. His parents were William and Elizabeth Martye of Compbell County, Virginia. He married Matsey (Martha) Harroway, daughter of Charles Harroway, on January 7, 1793 in Charlotte County, Va. He was still living in that county on October 19, 1812, when his only child, Elizabeth Akerse, married Charles Venable Brown. By 1818 Akers was living in Maury County, when he paid taxes on 170 acres of land and three slaves. He was listed in the 1820 and 1830 census record of Maury County. The only reference to his service tht has been located stated that he was a "soldier, American Revolution." He died in Maury County on September 15, 1834 and was buried in the Williamson Cemetery."
