Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Davis, 86, of Carthage will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Rehobeth United Methodist Church with Rev. James Littleton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockhill Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday morning at Rehobeth U.M.C. Mrs. Davis died May 8, 2012 in Carthage, Texas.

Mrs. Davis was born January 25, 1926 in Smackover, Arkansas. She was the second of eight children born to the marriage of Hanson and O'rena Morgan Dykes. Irene was schooled in Bullard and Tecula schools. She married Joseph Vance Davis and spent her life as a homemaker and also worked as the United Methodist Church District Office Liberian along with many other positions within the church. She was a member of the Rehobeth U.M.C. since 1998 where she was active in the WMA and other circles. Irene loved flower gardening and the outdoors.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, father of her children, Cecil Wiegman, son, Roger Wiegman and another infant son, siblings, Daniel, Wayne, Kenneth and Delvin Dykes. Mrs. Davis is survived by her son, Don Wiegman and wife Betty of Carthage, daughters, Joan VanDeCarr and husband George of Beckville, Mary Frances Martin and husband Tommy of Arp, brother, James Dykes and wife Sandy of Missouri, sisters, Dorothy Lee Rightsell and husband Don of Tyler, Evelyn Washburn and husband Roy of Tyler, sixteen grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family suggests memorials to the Highway 80 Rescue Mission.
