Martha Saunders Xiftros, 76, of Newport News, died peacefully with her family by her side, on Tuesday, May 5, 2009.
She loved and was loved by her family and friends and all who came to know her. Although now in a far better place, she will be missed and dearly remembered.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Andrew Xiftros, Jr. and her cherished daughter, Cheryl Lynne Everette. Together again, may they all rest in peace.
Survivors include daughter, Deborah Ellis, and her husband Robert, of Williamsburg; brothers, Charles H. Saunders of Yorktown and Raymond H. Saunders of Newport News; and granddaughter, Laura Cataldo of North Plainfield, N.J.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 8, at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11114 Warwick Blvd., Newport News. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, in Peninsula Memorial Park, officiated by the Rev. Wes Taylor of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
