Walter Stamps Allen, 87, of Calhoun City died March 10, 2004, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo.
Mr. Allen was a retired technician from the Mississippi Soil Conservation Service and a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche Doler Allen of Calhoun City; two daughters, Cecelia Allen Middleton of Benton and Betty Nail of Starkville; two sons, William W. Allen of Jacksonville, N.C., and Clayton Allen of Eupora; one sister, Chrystelle Mitchell of Batesville; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Services were March 13 at New Hope Baptist Church with burial in Bethany Cemetery. The Revs. William Weddle, Barnett Fielder, Jimmy Vance and Dale Easley officiated.
Pallbearers were Sid and Terry Allen, Byron and Hal Middleton, David Nail and Steve Melton. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of New Hope Baptist.
Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
