Carmen first married Ralph Watts, on 21 September 1929, in Bremerton, Washington. Tony and Mary Morello witnessed the ceremony.
Carmen then married Elmer J. Hike on 16 May 1936, in Kitsap County, Washington. Elmer was born on 17 December 1905 in Illinois and died on 9 August 1986 in Bremerton. He was the son of Henry and Alma Hike.
She then married Theodore Frederick "Ted" Laine on 5 August 1944. Carmen's sister Rose and Ray Nestor Kauppila witnessed the ceremony. Theodore Hokenstad of Bremerton officiated the marriage ceremony.
"Carmen Laine, who was born on Aug. 30, 1911, in Sequim to Italian immigrants George and Christina (Scaringi) Sofie, died Jan. 27, 2007, at Harrison Medical Center. The Bremerton resident was 95.
After attending Sequim High School, Mrs. Laine went to work at Naval Undersea Warfare Center-Keyport as an electronics equipment assembler during World War II and then again during the Korean War. She returned to Keyport in 1959 where she worked until her retirement in 1980. Mrs. Laine also was a co-owner of a grocery store in Seattle's Greenwich District, made chocolate candies, sold dresses, made custom draperies and clerked at the National Dollar Store in Bremerton.
Mrs. Laine enjoyed making beaded jewelry, sewing, cooking, crocheting, scrapbooking, macrame and working in her flower garden.
She married Theodore Frederick Laine on Aug. 5, 1944, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bremerton. He died in 1986.
Carmen was preceded in death by her brothers Johnny Sofie, Tony Sofie, Austin Sofie and Frank Costa and her sisters Mary Morello, Caroline Sofie and Rose Beham.
A viewing is scheduled for 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at Lewis Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery."
