George Glatz Passes Away In Peoria

George Francis Glatz, son of Louis and Gertrude Schmitt Glatz, was born April 5, 1931 in Henry, Ill., and passed away at St. Francis Hospital, in Peoria, October 17, 1944, at the age of 13 years, 6 months and 12 days.

He was stricken about June 1, and was admitted to St. Francis Hospital on June 15. Since that time all the loving hands and skilled specialists could do for him failed to bring him relief, and after months of suffering, forfeited by the sacraments of the Catholic Church and sustained by the prayers of relatives and friends, he peacefully departed this life just at the dawn of a new day.

Although his ailment was diagnosed as sarcoma, it failed to respond to treatment and a post-mortem has held to determine just what the peculiarities in his case were.

His mother, who has been almost constantly at his bedside, was with him at the time of his death. His father and other members of the family were always welcome visitors, and George was a favorite among te nurses and sisters who cared for him during his long illness.

"Pete," as he was familiarly known to his schoolmates and friends, attended St. Mary's Parochial School and he had completed the seventh grade there. The award of merit given to the most deserving student from the seventh and eight grades for catechism was won by him last year and he was justly proud of his achievement. He has also been a faithful server at the altar of S. Mary's Church, of which he was a member.

Besides the grief-stricken parents, George is mourned by his sisters, Mrs. Robert Shipton (Dorothy), Catherine, Rita and Judy, and is brothers, Jerome, Paul, Joseph, Phillip and Teddy; by his grandmothers, Mrs. Adam Glatz and Mrs. Maurice Tuttle, and many other relatives and friends.

Friends will call at the home until time for the services at St. Mary's Church on Friday at 9 a.m. Pall bearers and altar boys will be his classmates. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.

The Brennan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
