Eugene Jacob Palkki went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Jan. 12, 2009, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

He fought a good fight against Hodgkins Lymphoma and related complications, and finished his course on this earth. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at Coffelt Funeral Home (Moon Chapel) in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at 2 p.m. Services will be officiated by Pastor Jerry Favor. Burial will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

He was born in Grand Rapids, Minn., on Aug. 6, 1939, to Jacob and Daisy Palkki. He moved with his family to Northern California in 1948 where he lived most of his life. He graduated from high school in Fort Bragg, Calif.

He worked in the lumber industry as a millwright for 44 years. He was a faithful member of his church and loved to study the Bible and teach and preach when the opportunity arose. He loved to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He married his high school sweetheart on Aug. 24, 1958, to whom he was married for 50 years. Together they raised five children.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of Fort Bragg, Calif., and Sagle, Idaho; and four sons, Thomas Palkki (Marianne) of Sagle, Richard Palkki (Rose) of Killeen, Texas, Robert Palkki (Lisa) of Sandpoint, Kenneth Palkki (Musie) of Jamestown, Calif.; a daughter, Lynette Favor (Jerry) of Sagle; and 27 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

He is also survived by four siblings, Kenneth Palkki of Weavervelle, Calif., Duane Palkki of Chambersburg, Pa., Julia Proctor of Fallon, Nev., and Beverly Deaton of Susanville, Calif., as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
