Funeral Held Today For Seaman Mancuso
Full Military Honors Paid Local Sailor Who Died of Wounds Sufferd in Action in 1944.

Full military honors were accorded here today to Seaman 2nd Class John James Mancuso, son of Mrs. Mary Mancuso of 807 Curran Memorial highway, who died in a hospital in Naples, Italy, July 11, 1944, of wounds suffered a month before while serving with the Atlantic fleet. Funeral services were held for him at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the First Baptist church with Rev. Ivanhoe McCollum, pastor, officiating. Military honors were conducted by members of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, under the command of Victor G. J. Major, Chaplain of Frank R. Stiles post, American Legion. Color bearers were Harold Sharron and Joseph Marino. Color guards were Arthur Morris and Hector B. Major. Buglar was Philip Martel and drummers were Leo LaValley and Saleem Nassif. Members of the firing squad, commanded by Sgt. 1st Class Robert B. Kelder, were William Parker, Gerard Burke, George Goody, Cornelius Murphy, Leeward Clairmore and Charles Costello. Burial was in the family lot at Southview cemetery. Bearers were Richard Durkee, John Saulnier, Mark Murray, David Beall, Ernest Lussler and John B. Rosasco. The body of Seaman Mancuso reached this city yesterday after having arrived in the United States Nov. 8 aboard the U. S. Army Transport Lawrence Victory.
