Funeral services for F.M. "Buck" Baker, 59, 402 N. Adams, West Frankfort will be Saturday in Johnson Funeral Home, Herrin. The Rev. Lester Caraway will officiate and burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Baker died at 8:25 am Thursday, May 3, 1973 in Marion Memorial Hospital. He had been ill for three years. He was a retired coal miner and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the UMWA.
He was born December 22, 1913 in Herrin to James and Maria Edwards Baker. He married Opal Redfearn January 7, 1969 in Benton and she survives. Other survivors include daughters, Peggy Lawrence and Janet Brown, both of Herrin, sister Evelyn Hall, Herrin, brother, Thomas of Herrin and six grandchildren. A son Donald, three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
