There is some confusion over his middle name. A number of researchers show his name as William Matterson Casbeer, and he does at times go by the name of "Matt" Casbeer. He is usually found in the census records as William M Casbeer. He is found with his family, including wife Mary Julia Dunn Casbeer in the 1910 Census living in Mill County, TX. In 1920 his wife and several children are found living in Cochise, AZ. His wife Mary is head of household and indicates she is divorced. In the household is William, Lawton, Jesse and Lillie E. William and Lawton are miners.

A Matt Casbeer is also found in the 1920 Cochise, AZ Census living as a lodger and is a miner as well He indicates he is divorced.

In the 1930 Bexas County, TX census Mary Casbeer is found living in the household of her son Jesse I. Casbeer. She indicates she is divorced. In the 1930 Gila, AZ census a Matt Casbeer is found as head of household with a young wife and child, Emma age 27 born in Texas, and child Jessie James Casbeer age 5 born in Texas.

His death certificate #24065 indicates his name is William Madison Casbeer and he is married, his father is Joe Casbeer, mother not known. His son J. I. (Jesse) Casbeer was the informant on his death certificate.

If the above information is correct, it would appear for a period of time William M and Mary J were divorced, but perhaps remarried prior to his death.
