Nancy Jane Smith was born July 9, 1831, in Oxford, Chester County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of James Nelson and Sarah Miller Ann (McClurg) Smith.

Nancy married Lafayette Bradley about 1850 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Lafayette was born October 3, 1824, in Pennsylvania, the son of Daniel and Ann W. (Tweedy) Bradley. Nancy and Lafayette had the following known children:

1. Ida V. Bradley (1853-1933)
2. Cordelia (Bradley) Frank (1855-1918)
3. Alphonse (Bradley) Robinson (1857-1944)
4. Emma B. Bradley (1860-1939)
5. Elizabeth (Bradley) West (1863-1947)

Lafayette served with the Union in the 7th Regiment, Pennsylvania Cavalry, Company G during the Civil War. Lafayette died December 16, 1901, in Liberty Grove, Cecil County, Maryland. Nancy died August 4, 1914, in Liberty Grove, Cecil County, Maryland. The Midland Journal (Rising Sun, Maryland) 14 Aug 1914, page 1:

Mrs. Nancy Bradley.

Mrs. Nancy Bradley, widow of Lafayette Bradley, died Sunday at her home at Liberty Grove, aged 83 years. she had been in precarious health for months past.

Five daughters survive: Ida and Emma Bradley, at home; Mrs. Cordelia Frank, Media; Mrs. Elizabeth West, Rowlandville, and Mrs. Alphonse Robertson, Philadelphia. Samuel Smith, of Oxford and James Smith are brothers, and Mrs. Sara Bailey, Neb., and Mrs. Mary McFadden, Jenersville, are sisters of the deceased. She was the daughter of James and Sarah Ann Smith.

The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon, with interment at West Nottingham Presbyterian cemetery.
