Born in Sevelten, Germany in 1875 and immigrated to the United States with her family at nine years old on the Ship "Elbe" out of Bremen and South Hampton, July of 1882. Landed in New York City, August 12, 1882, and reached Illinois in September of 1882.

Mrs. Bertha Kunkle, (nee Karneboge), 71, of 413 Willow Avenue, died today at St Joseph's Hospital, following a lingering illness. Born in Germany, she had been a resident of Joliet most of her life.

She is survived by her husband Perry F. Kunkle, daughters Mrs. Mary C. Peterson, Mrs. Margaret H. Blood and Mrs. Ellen E. Matthews, one son, John F. Harrington and four grandsons, John F. Matthews, Quin W. Blood, John F. Harrington Jr., and Edward William Harrington.

The funeral will be from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, Monday at 9 AM to St. Patrick's Church for services at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 PM tomorrow.
