Carl E. Barker, 76, of Dix, died at the Kimball County Manor on Saturday, February 12, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Jim Shields officiating. Burial will be in the Dix Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Memorials have been established to the family. The services for Carl have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Carl Eugene Barker was born in Wellington, Utah on January 1, 1935, the son of Funnon and Reva (Estigoy) Barker. He was raised and attended school in Salt Lake City. Carl was raised by his father and step-mother Aleha. He attended Utah Trade School and received a degree in welding. Carl was in the US Army from 1951 until 1955. He was married to Beverly Biesecker in Sidney on February 2, 1980 and were married for 30 years. He worked on the oil rigs until Carl and Beverly opened Ma Barker's Restaurant in Dix, a business which he ran until going into the Manor on February 22, 2010. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children Tony Barker, Brian Barker, Becky Barker and Kelly Barker; step-children Jerry (Jane) Brown, Thomas (Sandy) Brown, Kathy (Lyle) Heine, Angie (Jody) Buskirk, Sherry Agena, Dean (Darla)and Gene (Jamie) Golding; brothers Dell Barker of Utah, Ferrel Barker of Indiana, Creg Barker of Sidney, NE and Funnon Barker of North Dakota; sister Donna Nelson of Utah several grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-dad, wife, brothers Cloyd and Lance and a sister Carol Jones.
