Our loving mother, grandmother and friend passed away March 29th from complications of Diabetes.
Born July 21, 1919 in Toronto, Kansas to Smith and Hazel Carter. Married Peter B. Swaner June 29, 1945. Divorced in 1977. Mom was a lifelong animal lover. She gave 5 star accommodations to many cats and dogs that were fortunate enough to be her pets. Margaret's grandkids would watch with delight as to the raccoons would gather on the front lawn to eat leftover Chinese food from her many family dinners. She also fed the birds and squirrels that inhabited her yard. Mom spent many years as a volunteer for the Humane Society. Preceded in death by her brother, Smith Carter.
Survived by one son, and two daughters; three grandsons; three granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.
Private family services will be held per Margaret's request.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the Diabetes Association, or give a misfortunate animal a loving home.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice nurses Debbie Saunders and Shelly. Their love and care for Margaret is greatly appreciated.
