Lyle J. Schreiner, 83, of 203 E. 10th St., Rock Falls, Ill., died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at St. Anthony Medical Center.
Services are 1 p.m. Sunday at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, Ill. Burial is in Erie Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
Mr. Schreiner was born Jan. 26, 1918, in Hillsdale, the son of Joseph L. and Ethel Wolfe Schreiner. He married Velma A. Frohling June 10, 1945, in Port Byron.
He was a chief warrant officer in the Navy on the USS Louisville during World War II.
Survivors (and spouses) are his wife, Velma; sons, Gail (Sally) Schreiner, Sterling, Gary (Phyllis) Schreiner, Rock Falls; a daughter, Darla Keefer, Rock Falls; a sister, Darlene Keag, Erie; six grandchildren, Jeff (Cheryl) Schreiner, Kevin (Leanne) Schreiner, Dina (Tim) Razo, Dana (Bryan) McFadden, Mark Schreiner and Kelli Keefer; and six great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a brother, Gail Schreiner.
