Private service will be held for Catherine J. (Herrick) Chastek. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Chastek, who was born in St. Maries, died last Thursday. She was 88. She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and attended Marylhurst Holy Names College in Oregon. In 1939, she married Chester Chastek. He died in 1999. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Esposito of Spokane; five sons, Lawrence, Michael, Patrick and Thomas Chastek, all of Spokane, and Gary Chastek of Phoenix; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Poor Clare Nuns."
