Born to parents Oliver Martin Shosted and Grace Dickerson Shosted. Raised in Bauer, Tooele, Utah. Married Florus Matilda Jensen May 31, 1947. Three children: Jack Raymond Jr, Kenneth Leslie and Mark J. Joined the Navy and served in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a carpenter who had his own business when younger. He later worked for several construction companies and oversaw the construction of many buildings in Salt Lake County including the Eagle Gate Tower, the Orthodox Greek Church in Holladay, the remodeling of the Hotel Utah and others. He built his own home in Taylorsville in 1962. He liked buying and restoring old cars. Some he sold and others he kept.
