THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, September 27, 2001..

Vollie Norris Daughtrey, 85, of Powderly, died Tuesday, September 25, 2001, at Christus St. Joseph's South Hospital.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 28, at Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Othoe Stegall officiating. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Daughtrey was born January 11, 1916, in Lamar County to Jess Norris Daughtrey and Annie Mae Cooper Daughtrey. He married Ruth Roberson on June 20, 1936. She died March 14, 1993.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the State of Texas and was a former member of Blossom Masonic Lodge #303.

Surviving are a daughter, Ruby Charlene Daughtrey Finch of Paris; a son, Vollie Gerald Daughtrey of Beaumont; a brother, Floyd Denzle Daughtrey of Keller; a sister, Juanita H. Daughtrey Coward of Powderly; grandchildren, Donna Daughtrey, David Daughtrey, Trevor Daughtrey, Robert Simmons, Marlin Anthony Finch, Amanda Ruth Finch; four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Daughtrey, Bruce White, Robert Simmons, Larry Stahls, Chick Rooks, and David Daughtrey.
