Thera "Faye" Marie Boyd Hall, 95, a resident of McComb, MS; passed away August 6, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Felder's United Methodist Church from 9:00 AM until services at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Silver Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Rev. Wayne Hall, Rev. Danny Speed, Rev. Brad Fitzgerald and Rev. Billy Joe Deer will officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Faye was born on November 13, 1927 in the Enon community of Walthall county, to Clyde B Boyd and Letha Cothern Boyd. She and Harold Lamar Hall were united in marriage on April 10, 1949, in Magnolia, MS. She had been a resident of the Friendship community from January 1955 until her passing. She was a member of Felder United Methodist Church and Felder Campground.

Faye often shared many stories of her being the eldest of six children reared during the Depression in Enon, especially those detailing her working in the fields and picking cotton from the time she could walk. She also told stories of going to Pricedale to purchase necessities, to McComb to shop at Kalif and Todd while her father worked at the railroad shops, and others of sleeping at the McComb Fire Station with her Aunt Ethel and Uncle Sam Bellipanni.

Faye loved to travel. She and her husband Harold loved traveling to Tennessee to the Gatlinburg area. After Harold's passing, her traveling days ceased until her favorite son-in-law Doug retired and she resumed traveling with him and daughter Ann to West Virginia to visit his family. When her daughter Nora retired, Nora and Faye, along with daughter Ann and niece Sammie Lou, traveled to Washington DC, rode the Natchez Trace all the way to Nashville, which she had always wanted to do, and visited several wineries from Williamsburg, VA, to Grinder Switch, TN, to Branson, MO. She tasted moonshine at Ole Smoky Refinery in Branson and said it was good but not as good as her Uncle Pharm's. While in Washington DC, she not only visited Arlington and witnessed the Changing of the Guards, but she was also able to tour the White House where she was allowed to tour its kitchen which is generally reserved for the White House staff. She was finally able to see the Colorado Rockies and the Grand Canyon on a recent trip to Utah to visit her great grandson James Caleb and her great granddaughter Shelbi.

On a trip to Laurel, Faye was photographed with Ben Napier of HGTV's Home Town show. The picture garnered over 15,000 likes on Facebook. Faye enjoyed reading her Facebook account every day on her iPhone. She also loved telling people about the breaking news that came over her phone.

In 2020, Faye was given the name "The Iron Lady," a title that had earlier been bestowed upon her husband's 4th great grandmother Mary Polly Hicks Stovall. Faye earned the title due to having survived a heart attack in 2002, then surviving another heart attack in August of 2020 while also simultaneously having Covid. In a 21-year span, she survived 6 known heart attacks.

Faye was well-known for cooking the best chicken and dumplings. When neighbor Eileen Price was ill, Faye would cook chicken and dumplings every week to take across the road to the Price family. One week she cooked two pots. As Jack was returning an empty pot, he bemoaned the fact that he did not get any because the children had eaten it all before, he had gotten home from court. Thus, that morning, Faye made another pot of chicken and dumplings for her favorite adopted son, Jack Price.

When her boys were playing sports, Faye attended every game. As Coach Cassels Wilson would say, she was LOUD and was loudest when Clyde had made a mistake on the basketball court.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, Harold L. Hall Sr, a daughter Thera Jean Dunaway, a son Clyde Henry Hall, an infant son James Edward Hall, son-in-law Douglas Wentz, and her in laws Henry and Mary Yawn Hall
