Mrs. Phoebe Ann McAvan, beloved wife of T. J. McAvan, of north of this city, died at her home on Sunday April 16, 1911. Funeral services were conducted at the Catholic church, Monday, by Rev. Fr. Ernst, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic
cemetary west of town.
Phoebe Anne Sanders was born in Chariton County, near this place, Sept. 18, 1842 ? and at the time of her death 68 years 6 months and 28 days old.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Sanders, pioneers of this section. She was married to John McAvan Aug. 18, 1864. Seven children -- two sons and five daughters, all of the children except one who died in infancy, are living and reside in this community. Fifteen grandchildren also survive.
A good, kind and charitable woman, devoted to her home and church, has passed to the great beyond, to hear the praise of her Master, and enjoy the rewards of a well-spent Christian life.
To the aged companion, to the children and to the grandchildren whom more than all others, realize the loss sustained, we extend our
sincere sympathies.
