Bob Brown, 70, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010 in Visalia, California.
Bob was born in Visalia, California, on June 7, 1940, to Les and Beulah Brown. Bob grew up with a love of motor sports. He built and raced dragsters, for which he won many trophies. Bob graduated from Mt. Whitney High School in 1958. After graduation, he enrolled in General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan. Bob studied at both the Engineering College in Flint and the Chevrolet Assembly Plant in Oakland. He graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1963.
While in Flint, he met Sandy Wagner. They married in 1963 and settled in Fremont, CA. Bob and Sandy had three children: Becky, Jeff, and Jennifer. In 1969, the family moved to Visalia and Bob joined his father in business at the Automotive Parts Company in Downtown Visalia. Over the years, Bob expanded the family business.
Bob retired from the auto parts business around 1990. His love of racing and cars continued throughout his life and he enjoyed traveling to NASCAR events. Fifteen years ago he reunited with a high school friend, Sandie Guy, and they were married. She shared his love of watching and attending car races.
Bob is preceded in death by his father Les, his first wife Sandy, his son Jeff, and his second wife Sandie. He is survived by his mother Beulah, sister Janet, daughters Becky and Jennifer, as well as son-in-laws, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on November 13, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 1023 N Chinowth St., Visalia, CA 93291. This memorial service will honor both Bob and his son, Jeff, who passed away in July. Arrangements by Miller Memorial Chapel of Visalia.
