Mervin J. "Bud" Crabill Marshall Mervin J. "Bud" Crabill, age 86, of Marshall, died at Oaklawn Hospital on Thursday afternoon, May 3, 2012. Bud was born on December 3, 1925 in Coesse, Indiana to Talmadge and Catherine (Woods) Crabill. He grew up and attended school in Indiana. He has lived in Branch and Calhoun County the majority of his life. Bud entered active service with the U.S. Navy on May 2, 1944 to serve in WWII. He served on LST's in the Pacific and was part of the liberation of the Phillipines. He was honorably discharged on May 16, 1946. He returned home and was married to Irene Kramer in 1947 in Illinois. She preceded him in death in 1970. Bud worked for St. Regis Paper Company, Michigan Paper Board and Michigan Carton Company for 41 years in their power plants. He retired in 1988. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Surviving are his sons, Jay (Mona) Crabill of Battle Creek and Nelson Crabill of Ozark, MO; a daughter, Irene Scott of El Cajon, CA; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister, Vivian Devine of Bellevue; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his three brothers: Melvin, Donald and Edward Crabill; and four sisters: Evelyn Crawford, Dollie Hoffman, Henrietta Brenke, and Julia Hastings. Friends may call at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 723 US27 N., Marshall on Sunday from1-7pm with family present to greet friends from 1-3pm and 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30am at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home with Reverend James Codde officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
