The 1850 US census in Tennessee has him listed as a third son to William and Mary 'Polly" Dake with the age of 11 years at the time of 1850 census.
The family moved from Tennessee to Missouri sometime between 1850 and 1860 at which point George would have been between 11 to 21 years of age when the family came to Missouri.
George, while in his early twenties, served in the Civil War.
