Graveside services for Jerome "Jerry" LaWalter, 50, were held at the Palmer City Cemetery with members of the Palmer Elks Lodge No. 1842 officiating.

He died Sept. 29 at HOmer Hospital.

Born Feb. 1, 1934 in Columbus, Neb., he came to Alaska 49 years ago and worked as a commercial fisherman most of his life. He lived in the Palmer area until 1980, when he moved to Seldovia. He lived there until his death.

He was a member of the Palmer Elks Lodge and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Richardson from 1956 until 1962.

He is survived by his son, Greg of Palmer; two daughters, Melanie of Seldovia and Becky Zaborack of Wasilla; one sister, Mrs. Pat Russell of Melbern, Ark.; and his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Schupp of Palmer.
