She was born in Sycamore to the late Charles and Ethel (Powell) Cates and was the oldest of 10 children. She lived most of her life in Washington Township. She was a 1929 graduate of Sweetser High School. She married Gerald H. Wolfe on Nov. 10, 1936 in the Morris Chapel parsonage. He died Aug. 16, 1990.
Mrs. Wolfe was a homekaer and an active member of Morris Chapel Church and the United Methodist Women's Society. She enjoyed quilting and gardening and was well known for her cherry pies.
Survivors include sons, Norman E. (Jackie) Wolfe, Warren, and Marvin D. Wolfe, Marion and stepson Richard (Sonya) Wolfe, Mariong; siblings Mary Cook and Lester(Georgianna) Cates both of Marion, Jesse (Esther) Cates, Sweetser,and Robert (Ruthanna) Cates, Muncie; grandchildren, Mark (Lori) Wolfe, Greenwood, and Marlene (Thuc) Tran, Carmel, stepgrandchildren, Steve (Debbie) Wolfe, Cicero, Becky (Mike) Brunk, Spring Hill Fla, Erlena (Tim) Emery, Clearwater, Fla, and Mike (Kathy) Wolfe, Michigan City, Fla, great-grandchildren, Ryan and Casey Wolfe and Zackery and Rachel Tran; step great-grandchildren, Kevin, Jeremy, Tracy, Adam, Angie, Amanda, Richie, Legha, Tim, Thomas and Joey; and three great-great stepgrandchildren.
She was also was preceed in death by siblings, Waneta Collins, and Clarence, Russell, Charles and Arthur Cates.
Services are at 10a.m. Thursday in Needham-Storey-Wampler Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave. with the Rev. Dan Love officiating. Burial is in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitaion is from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
