Dorothy "Dotty" Richard Simms, 60, of Chesapeake went Home to be with Jesus on February 18, 2010, after a long illness. She was born at Ward on March 15, 1949, and was the daughter of the late Gilbert "Gib" and Alma Burton Hicks Richard. Dotty was a graduate of Cedar Grove High School in 1968 and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles Osborne, Ray Craigo, Glenn Craigo, Margaret Richard Waugh, Evelyn Richard Johnston, and Fay Richard Tipton. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Harold Simms of Chesapeake; brothers and their spouses, Leonard and Mary Craigo of Florida, Bill Craigo of South Carolina, Keith and Daphene Richard of Campbells Creek, and Garry and Linda Richard of Cedar Grove; sister and spouse, Charolette and Estil Barnett of Ward; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful cat, Tiger Lee. Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Thursday, February 25, at Esta Memorial Baptist Church, Witchers Creek.
