Womelsdorf – Daniel P. Althouse, died at this place Friday evening at 7 o’clock, from the effects of a stroke of apoplexy which he received last Monday while preparing for a pleasure trip to Philadelphia. He was the son of the late Peter Althouse and was born in Bern Township. Deceased was a member of Zion’s Reformed Church, this place. During the past five years he was janitor of the church and sexton of the cemetery. His wife died 12 years ago. The following children remain: David, Mrs. C. Lewis Kinzer, Mrs. John Batdorf, Daniel S., Irwin and Miss Laura Althouse, of this place; Mrs. David Neff, of Phila., and Mrs. Henry Lutz, of Reading, and these brothers and sisters: John, of Minnesota; Peter, of Reading; Mrs. Kate Ludwig, of Reading; Miss Mahala Althouse, this place, and Reuben, residence unknown. The funeral will take place Wednesday at 10 o’clock, in Zion’s Reformed Church. Rev. L. D. Stambach will conduct services. William Arnold and Sons, undertakers.
