Susanne was the wife of Alvis Sanders (1820-?) She was a widow in 1900 living with her son, Lee Roy Sanders. The birthdate on her gravestone is probably incorrect. The 1900 U. S. census lists her birth as 1834 and is more likely based on previous census records.

She was the daughter of Lee Roy Saunders (1814-1870) and Mary (Polly) Saunders (1814-1857).
