Emily was the daughter of Hugh Austin and his 2nd wife, Mary Hughes Austin. She married Wiley W. Smith (my maternal great-grandfather) on August 21, 1865 in White Co., IL. They lived there for a while then moved to several areas of Missouri before settling in Van Buren, Carter Co., MO.
Unfortunately they had no children, although she and Wiley raised his brother, James, 2 orphaned children, Samantha Jane Smith Wright and James Alfred Smith.
