Letha Iona Shoemaker Owen, 91, died at 8:25 PM Monday, May 17, 1993, in Lafayette Home Hospital. Born May 17, 1902, at Wolcott, she was raised there and graduated from Wolcott High School. On Nov. 23, 1932, she married Frank E. Owen at Monticello; he died Aug. 3, 1991.
Mrs. Owen came to Lafayette in 1932 and was a nurse at Indiana Veterans Home and Ross Sanatorium. She also had been a housemother at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. She was a member of Congress United Methodist Church, We Will Sunday school class, Martha Circle, Order of Eastern Star Hope Chapter 5, Merou Grotto Auxiliary, and Lafayette Homemakers Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Thelma (Mrs. Kenneth) Williams; a stepson, Robert Owen, both of Lafayette; a brother, John Shoemaker of Monticello; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
