VALLEY - Mr. Arthur Edgar "Art" Bone, 85, of Valley died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at Lanier Memorial Nursing Home in Valley. Funeral services are planned for Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapelwith the Revs. Steve York, Steve Garnett and Leonard Autry officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfax Cemetery .

Mr. Bone is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Mike) Smith of Valley; grandchildren, Craig Smith of Valley and Amy (Judson) Blackstock of Andalusia, Ala.; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Grace Blackstock and Joshua Blackstock; one sister, Gracie Wooddy; one brother, Louis (Fayellen) Bone; and several nieces and nephews. Born May 14, 1925 in Tallapoosa County, Mr. Bone was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U. S. Army and was decorated with the Silver Star andthe Purple Heart medals. He was a retired employee of WestPoint Stevens Fairfax Mill, with more than 40 years of service with the company. Mr. Bone was an active member of Fairfax First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and he was an avid University of Alabama fan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nan W. Bone. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in his memory to Fairfax First Baptist Church or Chattahoochee Hospice. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
