Juriah Harris Dugas, son of Dr. Louis Alexander Dugas and the former Miss Lousia Virginia Harris, was born on the 2nd of August 1845 in Augusta, Georgia. He was named for his maternal grandfather, Juriah Harris of the same city.
On 14 September 1863 at the age of 18, Juriah enlisted in Company A, 5th Infantry Regiment Georgia. Enlisting just days before the Battle of Chickamauga, Private Juriah Dugas saw action there, as well as the seize of Atlanta in 1864 and remaining in service until his unit mustered out on 26th of April 1865.
After the war Juriah attended and graduated from the Medical Academy of Georgia, of which his father was dean. Later setting up a practice in Augusta as a physician.
Dr. Juriah Harris Dugas departed his young life on the 2nd of November 1878 at the age of 33 years and 3 months.
