Richard E. "Tricky Dicky" Spooner, 81, of Monaca, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, July 31, 2009, at Heritage Valley Beaver. Richard had entered this life on July 28, 1928, in Beaver Falls, where he was raised by his parents, Joseph and Mary Spooner, both of whom preceded him in death. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the Army's Company A 321st Signal Battalion Corps. Richard was a retiree of Phoenix Glass Co. in Monaca with 42 years of service. Following his retirement from Phoenix Glass, he gained employment as a janitor with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4653 and the American Legion Post No 580, both in Monaca, where he was also a member. While he was still working, he bowled with the Phoenix Glass League. He was a devout member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. He currently resided at Monacatootha Apartments. Richard was a plain, but generous man who delighted in helping his fellow neighbors. Aided by the use of an electric scooter, he ran errands for friends and assisted Fr. McKenna when services were held at the building. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved Marietta Bell, on July 21, 2007. He was also preceded by his brother, Arthur, and a half brother, John Tate. He leaves his step children, Mark Bell and family, Pam Huppenthal and family, Roberta Merriman and family, Mary Fogg and family, Randy Bell and family and Shawn Bell and family. He also leaves a brother, Kenneth Spooner of Spiegel, PA and several close friends, John Moore and Jenny, both of Monacatootha Apts. and Rose Booher
