Mr. Marsden Merchant died at his home in this city on Saturday, January 30th, of pleuro-pneumonia, aged 64 years, 5 months and 1 day. His last illness was of about two days duration though he had not been feeling well for a few days previous. Mr. Merchant was born in New York state and visited the mines in California twice. At one time he was a man of considerable means. He lived on a farm in Summit a number of years. About eight years ago he moved to Owatonna where he has since lived. Mr. Merchant was well known in this community.
