He was the son of Arnold F. and Ardecia (Perkins) O'Barr.
He married Jane Casson. Their children were: Jackie, Larry, Kathryn, Melissa and Dorothy O'Barr.

Obituary.....
Melvin H. O'Barr - age 88, a native of Leeds, Alabama, passed away on April 29, 2012. He served his country in Europe during WWII as a soldier with the 85th Heavy Ponton Battalion. Following the war, he was employed by South Central Bell and retired in 1986 after 40 years of service. He was a longtime member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church and later a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Armold and Ardecia O'Barr; brothers and sisters: Kenneth O'Barr, J.C. O'Barr, Ola Mae Hamm, Stella Travis, Donald O'Barr, and twin brother, Milton O'Barr.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Casson O'Barr; daughter, Jackie Falls and husband, Robert; son, Larry O'Barr; daughter, Kathryn Saucier and husband, Daniel; daughter, Melissa Brown and husband, Michael; daughter, Dorothy Bogoslofski and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Sydney Mayes, Sean Hudson, Benjamin Brown, Alexandra Brown, Declan Saucier and Zoey Hudson.
Graveside services will be held on May 3rd at 12:30pm at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi. Visitation for family and friends is May 2nd from 5:00-7:00pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
