Mrs. John S. Himes died at her home in Orwell, January 27, 1897, aged thirty-nine years. Mrs. Himes had been a great sufferer from cancer for the past few years. She had been for relief at Dr. Kingsley's at Rome, and at the Dr. Kilmer's Sanitarium at Binghamton; but it was of no avail.
She was the only daughter of Artemas and Nancy Carpenter, sister of ex-Supervisor Dewitt Carpenter. She leaves a husband and six children, her aged father and mother and five brothers. The sympathy of all go out to the bereaved family.
