Author. One of the most acclaimed and read Swedish writers of modern time. She had a great social concious, and took a clear stand against unjusticies in society. During the 1970s she was involved in the anti-Vietnam movement and she was on the barricades fighting for human civil rights. Several of her books was a reault of her travels to africa and Vietnam. She made her debut in 1953 with ”Tjärdalen”. During her career she got 21 books published, among them ”Jag och min son” (Me and my son, 1961), ”Fångarna i Nam Dinh” (The prisoners of Nam Dinh, 1972), ”Vredens barn” (Children of wrath, 1979), and her last. ”Kropp och själ” (Body and soul, 2003).
