Ret. Police Chief Carl Blackwell Skinner, 79, passed away Wednesday October 12, 2016 at the McLeod Hospice House. Chief Skinner was born in Kingsburg, SC, a son of the late Bishop Blackwell and Ina Louise Cox Skinner. Chief Skinner was retired after 26 years from the Johnsonville Police Department and he was the longest serving Police Chief that Johnsonville has ever had. He also was retired from the US Air Force after 20 years as a Tech-Sgt. where he worked as a Flight Engineer on C-130’s and flew with the US Air Force Hurricane Hunters and he was also a veteran of the Vietnam War. Chief Skinner received his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice form Horry-Georgetown Technical College. He was a former member of the Johnsonville City Council and served as a greeter at the Brown Town Museum. He enjoyed restoring old tractors, fishing, tracing Family History (Genealogy) and working in the yard with his very special grandson, Craig.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Lyvonne West Skinner; sons, Daryl, Ricky and Kenneth Skinner; grandson, Chris Skinner
