Richard (alias Zadig) Lambert served in the Free Men of Color Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Captain Berlin Rouzier's Company from December 19, 1814 - March 20, 1815.

A noted musician and music educator, one of his most notable students was Edmond Dédé .

New Orleans, Orleans Parish, State of Louisiana, recorded date of death is March 25, 1862, however, this is incorrect.

Per Haïti, état civil, 1794-2012", , FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6FR4-KY7V : Sat Nov 18 04:38:49 UTC 2023), Entry for Charles Richard Lambert, 20 Mar 1861, and the 1881 testimony of his wife: "That she left home with her said husband and family for Port au Prince, Santo Domingo on the 8th of December 1860, before the war of the Rebellion had commenced; that they reached their destination on the 5th of January, and that her said husband died a little over two month thereafter, to wit on the 19th day of March 1861." That after she and her family returned to New Orleans in July 1863, in 1864 she went to the Board of Health to report her husband's death, and either made a mistake giving the date from memory or the clerk made a mistake in taking down the date.

First married to Jeanne Aimee Ferrand (abt 1801 - 1831) in 1826, to that union, two sons:

Sidney Lambert (born 1837) died in the 17e arrondissement de Paris (Paris), France on November 25, 1915, the son of Richard Lambert and Susanne Ory.

Lambert half-brothers, Charles Lucien and Sidney, studied music with their father and both became noted musicians and composers.

As Charles Richard Lambert had been in Port-au-Prince when he passed. It is most likely he was buried in or around Port-au-Prince as his body was not returned to New Orleans.
