Richard "Dick" was the son of William Holman & Delila (Everroad) Lawson. He grew up in Burney, IN, graduating from Burney High School. He married Christine B. Butts in 1933. His obituary follows:

"Richard Lawson, 72, St. Petersburg, Fla., died there Oct. 2. Mr. Lawson was born Dec. 16, 1909, in Burney, the son of Holman and Delia Lawson. He had been married 49 years to Christine Lawson, who survives, with one son, Dr. Thomas R. Lawson, educational director of the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C.; a granddaughter, Lesley Lawson, a pre-med student at Boston University and a grandson, Stephen Lawson, a student at South Marr High School in Silver Springs, Md.

"Mr. Lawson was an active member of the Burney Baptist Church and when he resided in Burney taught a Sunday School class. He graduated from Burney High School and owned and operated the fanily farm at Burney, which Virgil Whipple operated for him now. He worked for the State Farm Mutual Insurance in Greensburg, and was vice president of the Green and Green Insurance Co. in Evansville. He was a specialist in fidelity casualty insurance.

"Services were held at the Pasadena Chapel in Florida and will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel in Indianapolis, with burial in the Moravian Cemetery in Hope."
